50 years ago, the Summer of Love took hold of San Francisco tighter than the hand of a midwestern woman clutching her pearls against the cardigan-ed chest of someone who had never seen, or smelled, a hippie before. It was a time of free love, flowing locks, and change. Now on its Golden Anniversary, events all across the Bay Area are celebrating that memorable summer.
