Artist Books & Publishing in the Bay

This panel will address the Bay Area as home to a host of legendary and innovative independent publishing houses and bookstores, as well as paper mills and print shops, which all cater to and work with artists. Moderator Juana Berrio is an independent curator and the founder of Kiria Koula, a gallery and bookstore that highlighted the artist’s role as researcher and thinker, rather than exclusively as producer of objects. For this evening Berrio invites the founders and directors of RITE Editions, 2nd-floor projects, and Owl Cave Books to join in conversation about books that were ultimately created within the context of art.
