Blockchain, Bitcoin and Virtual Currencies: Legal Issues

Blockchain, Bitcoin (with capitalized or lower “b”), ether and cryptocurrencies have become part of our current society’s daily usage. The presentation will introduce the audience to blockchain technology and provide an overview of the current legal framework for the initial issuance and secondary offers and sale of digital assets such as bitcoin, ether and other virtual currencies, with an emphasis on the developments that have occurred within the last twelve months, including guidance on factors to consider in assessing whether a digital asset transaction will be subject to the U.S. securities laws.
