Boyfriend
Suzannah Powell is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, and performance artist, best known by her stage name Boyfriend. Raised in Nashville, she found her rap persona upon moving to New Orleans. Boyfriend coined the term “rap-cabaret,” a nod to the emphasis on performance in her music. The “mysterious, raunchy, feminist rapper” as described by NPR, has taken her special brand of “campy rap antagonism” (LA Times), “high-concept booty bass” (Rolling Stone), and “candy-coated cultural criticism” (Nasty Gal) to stages across the globe.
