Fingerpicking Guitar Master Leo Kottke
Maybe He’s Gonna Be the One That Saves You from Lame Guitarists
When you think of “acoustic guitarists” you might think of that one guy at every party who just sings Wonderwall on repeat to get chicks, but all that will change when you see Leo Kottke perform his country-blues guitar stylings at the Herbst Theatre. Born in Athens, Georgia but raised all around America, Kottke has released albums, been nominated for Grammys, been in the Navy, which has nothing to do with music, but is still cool, and is even a doctor of music with a Doctorate in Music Performance from the Peck School of Music. Presented by the Omni Foundation, this night of guitar music mastery will have you wishing all those random party guitar guys would up their game to Kottke’s level.
“His fingerpicking became a beautiful machine, full of syncopation, sliding and open-string voicings, with small dissonances and backward- sounding phrases.” –NewYork Times
