“Louie & The Lovers” Soulful ’70s Power Pop Legends
For All the Louie and the Lovers Lovers out There
Louie and The Lovers are back in all their cult classic-y goodness to perform their classic LP “Rise” in its entirety. Like so many other works of art, “Rise” was not appreciated upon its release. Produced by legendary Texan roots rocker Doug Sahm, the young band was described as “a Salinas Valley Boy version of Creedence Clearwater Revival infused with a pinch of a tex-mex Big Star” and it took people years to “get it.” They’re basically Wet Hot American Summer, Donny Darko, and Picasso in band form. Hear their soulful and blistering power-pop at The Chapel.
Their debut album was just plain incredible, in the sweet spot between Creedence Clearwater Revival and Ritchie Valens – Rolling Stone Magazine
