Noir Noel: French Xmas Noir

Who would think of such a thing? Who would take the jolliest of holidays and attempt to “noir-ify” it? Midcentury Productions, of course! Their The French Had A Name For It series continues with “a sensational evening of French Yuletide noir” that features 1941’s  “L’Assassinat du père Noël” or “Who Killed Santa Claus?” It will be paired with “Paris Pickup,” which sounds so much less tawdry when it’s “Le Monte-charge!” Is it a Christmas movie? Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Oh, dear… We’ve started another Christmas movie debate.
