Nopes

Nopes are (or should that be “Nopes is”?) Gabe, Cole, Eagret, and Alex and they specialize in “weird core.” Another sub-genre of metal! This brand, or sub-genre, is typified by “sneering spazz-rock incorporating melodies and extended instrumental passages not typically found in straightforward punk” (Deli Magazine). We listened to a tune– “Fun Limbo,” the title track of their recent Magnetic Eye release– and we were immediately transported to a late-night pogo-fest headed up by Killing Joke. (Nopes’ advice to potential downloaders to “turn it up,” is followed by the disclaimer, “don’t blame the band if shit gets broken.”
