Secret Sessions: Modern Architecture: NorCal vs. SoCal
Fog and smog. The Giants and the Dodgers. Cal and USC. Architect Leo Marmol, FAIA, of Los Angeles and San Francisco-based design build firm Marmol Radziner, will look at the influences on modern design in Northern and Southern California. A Bay Area native who moved south, Marmol has long appreciated the vastly different, but equally alluring regions of California. Marmol will present a brief historical overview of modernist residential architecture, with a focus on the distinctive regional factors—from climate to landscape to culture—that shaped the modern architectural tradition that we appreciate today.
