The Pullman Porters of West Oakland

Join the California Historical Society for a discussion surrounding the rise of West Oakland alongside the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters with a focus on labor activist, Pullman Porter, and leader of the Brotherhood, C. L. Dellum. Author Thomas Tramble will give a short presentation and then transition into a discussion between him and Susan Anderson, California Historical Society’s Director of Collections, Library, Exhibition, and Public Programs. To begin the event, short remarks will be read on behalf of Marva Dellums, daughter of C. L. Dellums, who could not participate in this discussion.
