Yaelisa y Caminos Flamencos
Arte es Resistencia is a flamenco show based on traditional flamenco, a statement of solidarity with our brothers and sisters in resistance towards anything resembling conformity. In today’s world, art is more necessary than ever as a counter-statement against the conformity of acceptance, against the politics of division and hate and even bigotry. Flamenco historically has long been an art of the streets, borne of persecution and prejudice against the Gypsy and the nomad. Flamenco arose from the poetry of suffering of the poor, downtrodden and in its inherent spirit, is an improvisational music and dance that offers raw, pure emotion as a tool against tyranny. Caminos Flamencos embodies and fulfills this legacy through every performance and we are honored to be presenting this performance at the landmark space of Ashkenaz and all it represents to our community.
