Sounds Good to Me: Indie-Pop, Rap, and Rock Opera

Your Hookup to Three Hot Bands This Week

By Adam Casalino – February 19, 2018

The winter is winding down, folks. As the cold weather fades away, you better be ready to hit this great old city called San Francisco. And what better way to make the most of SF than by busting a move at a great show? But where to start? Relax, my comrades, because here are three incredible musical experiences you cannot miss.

Sunflower Bean
Fri 3/2/18 @ Rickshaw Stop, San Francisco
Popscene is proud to present Sunflower Bean. This Brooklyn-based trio is redefining indie-pop music for a new generation. Since 2013, singer/guitarist Nick Kivlen, singer/bassist Julia Cumming, and drummer Jacob Faber have earned attention for their alternately rock-edged and dreamy guitar tunes. This is pop music for the rest of us, those with good taste. They will be putting on the good vibes at Rickshaw Stop this March.

Marty Grimes ft. Larry June & Daghe
Fri 3/2/18 @ The UC Theatre, San Francisco
Indie-pop not your thing? That’s okay. The Bay Area is chalk full of amazing, up-and-coming hip-hop. Marty Grimes is the Berkeley-based artist lighting up the indie rap scene. His music embodies the slang and strut that the Bay Area is known for, bringing a new voice to the iconic Northern California lifestyle that bred him. Over the past six years, he toured and recorded, giving the hungry masses what they deserve: Amazing music.

Weightless
2/23/18 – 3/18/18 @ Z Space, San Francisco
Now for something truly original. Weightless isn’t your ordinary rock show. The Kilbanes are putting on a new kind of rock opera. Get ready to participate in a show that weaves together ancient myth with evocative indie rock to tell a story of sisterhood, love, betrayal, and rebirth. This intimate story will move you, while entertaining you to no end. Experience an imaginative and inventive new kind of show. It’s all taking place at Z Space.

With a scrumptious selection of music, you have a full plate on your hands. San Francisco is literally bursting with incredible sounds you cannot miss. Just one of these shows will be enough to satisfy your craving for an unforgettable night. So why not grab your sweetheart for a date? Or round up a few long-lost friends? Maybe just get out there yourself and meet some new peeps. Uh, people still say peeps, right? Anyway, all of this is brought to you by RushTix. Get busy, folks!
